CENO CLEAN
1106CLEANER

1. SCOPE
        CENO CLEAN 1106S is a low temperature alkaline cleaner designed for the
spray cleaning of metal surfaces that are to be subsequently treated in a low
temperature BONDERITE solution.

2. MATERIALS
        CENO CLEAN 1106S

3. TESTING REAGENTS
        Testing Solution No. 9 (0.1N sulphuric acid)
        Indicator Solution No. 9 (screened methyl orange)

4. EQUIPMENT
        All equipment for use with CENO CLEAN 1106S may be constructed of mild
steel but maintenance will be simplified if spray nozzles are fabricated from stainless
steel (Grade 316s).

5. MAKE - UP OF CLEANING SOLUTION
        Carry out the following operations in the order given :-
1) Determine the working volume of the tank and run clean water into it until it is
        about three - quarters full.
2) Switch on pump (or pumps).
3) CENO CLEAN 1106S Powder at the rate of 20kg. Per 1000liters of cleaning solution
required.
4) Make up to the operating level with clean water.
5) Mix thoroughly by operating the pup(s) for at least five minutes.

* This is the usual make - up but concentrations as low as 5 kg. per 1000 litres may
be satisfactory and as high as 30 kg. per 1000 litres may be necessary.

6. OPERATION
        The cleaning solution is sprayed onto the work for approximately one minute. It
is normally operated at low temperature, minimum 25 ?., but higher temperatures may
be used if necessary.

        After cleaning, the work is thoroughly rinsed with one or two stages of
sprayed water. The rinse (s) should be overflowed continuously at a rate which will
keep it (them)free from scum and contamination.

        The cleaning solution gradually accumulates grease and soil and should be
discarded when contamination interferes with cleaning.

7. TESTING AND CONTROL
        Take a 10ml. sample of the cleaning solution, add 5 drops of Indicator Solution
No. 9 and titrate with Testing Solution No. 9 until the colour changes from green to
red. A CENO CLEAN 1106S solution prepared at 20kg. per 1000 litres should require
27ml. of Testing solution No.9 and is known as a 27 point solution.

        The pointages at various concentrations are given in the table below.
An addition of 0.75 kg. of CENO CLEAN 1106S powder per 1000 litres is required to
raise the pointage by one.

8. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
        CENO CLEAN 1106S is alkaline. Do not take internally. Avoid contact with
sking and clothing. Wear a face shield, and rubber gloves and apron when handling this
material. When making additions of CENO CLEAN 1106S powder to the solution, add
the material slowly to the surface of the solution to avoid spattering . In case of
accidental contact with skin or clothing, wash immediately with large quantities of
water. For eyes, flush freely with water for at least 15 minutes and obtain medical
attention at once. Clean up spillage.
